ARIZONA DERBY DAMES
Arizona Derby Dames is an all-female roller derby I founded in 2005. Arizona Derby Dames started off as a flat-track roller derby league in Phoenix, AZ. Titles I held were Founder, Coffin Draggers Team Captain, Captain of the travel team Wrecking Crew, Fundraising, Creative Committee, Merch Committee from 2005 to 2009.
In 2006 the league played a bout at Rollercon in the heart of Fremont Street and in 2007 in the Las Vegas Skate Park in Las Vegas, NV. In 2009 the league played its first banked track tournament Battle on The Bank in Austin, TX. In 2009. I coordinated the first banked track bout in Oklahoma City against the Red Dirt Rebellion on the same banked track that was used in the movie Whip It, directed by Drew Barrymore and starring Juliette Lewis. We had a skater lock in at the warehouse and I slept on the banked track. Later that same year, the league moved to Veteran's Memorial Coliseum. I was the first skater ever to skate the floor at Veterans Memorial Coliseum. In 2010 the league played in front of over 4000 people on the first banked track bout since the 1960’s. Arizona Derby Dames has grown over the years, reaching thousands of fans and inspiring womxn of all ages to put some skates on and be their own hero. In 2009 the league moved to Veteran's Memorial Coliseum. In 2010 the league played in front of over 4000 people on the first banked track bout in Phoenix since the 1960’s.
